* When I was a wire editor, it was all about the national news for me. I always wanted people to think nationally when it came to their news. However, since the Internet changed the ways in which news is consumed, that view has changed. Local papers SHOULD pay more attention to local now. People get national news, gossip and noise all over, and it is overkill. I no longer need to look to a local newspaper to read national news. So, they need to concentrate more and more on local, whether it is news, entertainment, sports, lifestyle or other information. And that does not mean filling up the paper with more boring news about government on the local level.

* Cicadas will be regional.
* Networks have stopped wall-to-wall coverage of mass shootings.
* It is a waste of time to have on another news host on your other shows throughout the day. Fox News does it often.
* The purchase by Amazon of MGM is another blow to movie theaters. They need to fight the streaming efforts more and more now.
* The best way to watch a movie is on the big screen.
* Celebs announcing things about their personal lives is gossip, not news. They are doing it for PR purposes but always want to be trendy, too.
* The UFO stories are odd now. People who believed were ridiculed, cursed and their reputations ruined.
* We are supposed to believe that singers and artists get millions of streams and views online when it comes to their music. However, a show that honors them cannot grab viewers. After all, they would be tuning in to see the stars that get those millions of views and streams. Yet, they do not. The Billboard Music Awards tanked with 2.77 million viewers.
* What is worse? Watching TV all day or playing video games all day?
* The Golden Globes seems to be canceled for 2022 but the HFPA has never issued a statement saying that. NBC said they would not air it.
* Kelly Clarkson will take over the spots on NBC when Ellen calls it quits. However, news reports speculated that it would be Tiffany Haddish. They were wrong.
* The Wuhan lab leak is being investigated again. Hmmm. We were told that was a conspiracy.
* In case you are wondering, Dunkin' is only selling paints to fit their color scheme.
* The finale of "SNL" was brutally low in the ratings once more. Tell me again why it gets so many headlines for such a low rated TV show?
* Las Vegas residency shows are huge now for established artists.
* Every time you turn around there is an iHeart concert for some reason.
* Most people never will call in to a radio show in their life. Just something to ponder.
* No one person will get all of Rush Limbaugh's radio affiliate stations. Because of that, no one will ever have the influence he did.
* What will happen is obvious - there are too many streaming services. So, the mergers and buyouts will start and be very complicating to the viewers.
* Sports go to all pay and suddenly my interest wanes a bit. I love the Cubs but will not pay for Marquee.

* There are way too many ads on TV about medicines.
* Look out for those speculative articles that feature "could," "may" and "if." Those make great headlines but are rarely followed up on "IF" wrong.

* It may surprise many that the lines have been blurred between news media hosts, etc., and politicians. It is not new but lately, more prominent in its bias. Research just how many in the news business worked for government or politicians. Just look at the George Stephanopolous.
* Not sure Amazon buying MGM will have any impact on our lives, but I just do not like it. Amazon is too big for its own good.
* White House press briefings are not needed on a daily basis. There is something off about those who think we do need them. Nothing needs to be on a daily basis like this. It is like having a daily meeting at work. Most are useless but, once in a while, they offer up some needed news.
* Media tries to shape the news too much now.
