- SAG Awards - a no buzz and too much of a Zoom taped event. Bad on many levels. Why Hollywood is lecturing us about what movies they insist we watch with the SAG Awards, people were not watching that show. They were watching a movie Hollywood would never award, "Godzilla vs Kong." HBO MAX on Sunday night exploded with viewers and movie theaters saw an uptick as well over the long Easter Weekend. "The Ten Commandments" saw four million viewers on April 3 despite being up against the Final Four. See here. IMAX also saw big numbers. So, let's get back to watching movies in theaters again, not just streaming. I can only hope that the pandemic helped us get tired of doing everything on a screen at home and want us to get back to concerts, ballgames and movies again.
- The term Cinderella is now overused in sports, especially March Madness.
- Mask pollution is all over. They are being discarded without any thought, right?
- Too many incidents are being filmed and it exposes that nobody wants to help other humans in trouble. Sad.
- The word "narrative" is being overused now when discussing "narratives" that news uses when framing stories. And yes they use them all the time. It is the very basis of writing a news story. What is? The "narrative" is.
- Most news media do not see their own bias so it is impossible the get them to change or admit it even exists.
- Yes, The Masters will stay in Georgia. And yes, fake birds sounds will likely be added.
- Newswatch on WGN America launched with the promise that they were not like other cable news channels. After they started with straight news, they know have introduced opinion shows, just like the other cable channels. Oh well, that did not last long.
- News really does not sell. For newspapers, it was always sports, classified section and obits. And entertainment now and then. Take those away or put them behind a pay wall and you have the death of newspapers.
- Virtual sports and limited audiences have got to stop soon.
- I miss concerts the most during the pandemic. But, with a smaller audience that will hurt the in-person experience.
- Boycotting things in Atlanta is odd. Braves play there. CNN is there, too. Tyler Perry has a major studio there.
- The perfect movie to get people back into theaters is "Godzilla vs Kong." Big monsters and the big screen. And it is not Star Wars.
- I have a hard time using terms like "pandemic records" and the like. It should have never been this way.
