- Celebs raised $300 million from a "Vax Live"" concert. But where does the money go since the government is paying for the vaccines - and we get them for free?
- Somehow a concert that was not able to get an audience raised a lot on money??? "Vax Live" was on two networks in the U.S. On ABC, it drew 1.75 million viewers; CBS, 1.31 million. So, it was likely that the money was already raised and made to look like it was a live fundraiser.
- There was actually a vaccine concert held recently. Really? A far cry from Farm Aid and Live Aid! I covered the first Farm Aid in Illinois while working for the Daily Vidette (Illinois State)

- But for me, When it comes to "Saturday Night Live," I think about it like this. I do not watch it anymore and have not for years. So, when the talk about the host and musical act gets announced, I ignore it. And I wonder why it still gets the headlines and stories it does after all these years. The ratings do not justify it, but it is more political, I guess. When it does something people love, I ignore it. When it does something I hate, I ignore it. I will not all of a sudden praise it when I have not talked about it in years. Nor will I dump on it for the same reason. I leave it alone - it is a late night show that was always fringe. The show has NEVER been good for 90 minutes - ever. It was always hit or miss and the misses were brutal.
- The chances are real good that if you all of a sudden start seeing a star, they are pitching something. We are starting to see the stars of "Friends" make headlines again. Oh brother. Hmm, they are filming again. No wonder.
- Fox Sports needs to stop saying "the biggest season" ever. No, it is not. And now they are using it for the upcoming NFL season.
- It now feels like everything is gossip now because of social media. Nobody knows what is real, a PR move or simply a planted story to gin up support and awareness. Ughhhhh!!!!!
- Jeff Gordon and Clint Bower are trying real hard to make a dynamic duo. To me, it is not working. Jeff was much better without Bower around.
- I have covered entertainment for many years and the key is to NOT be starstruck. And stay away from the gossip if you can. Know the difference between gossip and simply entertainment nuggets about a star, etc.
- Ellen leaving her talk show is the latest of Hollywood attacking its own. Good for her.
- "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen is a great song and now, Budweiser is using it. The song came alive again as the credits rolled on "Bohemian Rhapsody."
- John Oliver gets many headlines and for the life of me, I do not know one person who watches his show.
- Are we are the point of talk show host saturation yet? It sure feels that way. It means, to me, that when everyone can and is doing it, the impact is gone. The specialty factor and the uniqueness is right out of the window. It happened to movie reviews. It is happening in online reviews of almost anything.
- If we are giving awards to shows and people that hardly anyone watches, what is the point. Years later we look at the list and think, "Oh, that show must have been good." Then we do a little research and realize it was "critically-acclaimed," which usually means hardly anybody tuned into - to this masterpiece of a show. Sure! Maybe it was NOT good, but was to a small group of elites who pushed it on us.
- The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has always been a scheme of sorts. After all these years, now it is being actively pursued? Deep down, many of the awards we love and loved over the years likely have some devious methods to them. The Grammys had a committee to pick the nominees for the top categories. So, instead of just picking the top five that its members chose for the nominees, a committee decided what they were. One can wonder if they did this for the winners, too.
- There is so much awareness out there now, nothing is fun anymore.
- There was actually a vaccine concert held recently. Really? A far cry from Farm Aid and Live Aid! I covered the first Farm Aid in Illinois while working for the Daily Vidette (Illinois State University) The vaccine concert was even further removed than Woodstock. I think Woodstock was held during another pandemic.
- Please, do not ruin Bob Ross.
- Talk shows fire people for having different opinions. Yet, their show is about debating the issues of the day. Do not get that.
- Ever see a story about a TV show as it enters season 4 or so and realize you have never heard of it - AT ALL?
- A pet peeve - businesses that do not update their signage.
- Watching pundits and reporters try to explain away the jobs numbers is amusing. It is like saying TV ratings do not matter. Oh, yes they do, and so do these numbers.
- But, listening to reasons as to why is all over the board, which means it is all just opinion.
- It looks like Washington Post, New York Times and NBC retracted a story on Rudy Guiliani. That they had to do this is an eye-opener. I see it this way. Again, this is about media, not Rudy, or politics. Either they have the same sources and blew it. Or one outlet reported it and they used it, without checking it out. Sad either way. The Post noted that deadline pressure and Rudy not responding was the reason? Huh?
- Stop with the phrase "game changer" please.
- Older people watch more traditional TV than the younger generation. So, get rid of the 18-25 demo. It is wasting ad money. Or even 24-34. the overall number is a better tell on if a show is popular.
- If you have a little time, a good read is about why Dick Clark started the American Music Awards. Look it up. I will not do the homework for you on that one.
