* One way to clean up news is to leave the pundits out of it. And TV news needs to clean that up.
* Media really does get a lot wrong these days. A lot more than used to be the case. Why? My theory is they are relying too much on gossip, and trying to keep up with social media.
* I am really surprised that legacy media companies did not do more to fight social media early on. Social media ruined their reputations.
I watched three innings of the MLB All-Star Game. What happened? I used to be able to watch my favorite sport all the way through, no matter what? I was not alone as it was the second lowest rating ever, right behind 2019. When I was growing up, it easily could grab 25-30 million viewers. The announcers and media in general, over-hype every singe player, and that does not help. But, they laser focus on only a few, which ends up hurting the player. And baseball needs to stop with the in-game interviews. Please stop putting microphones on the players during games.
* It is obvious that those ESPN hosts want to talk politics, and not just sports. We always try to go out of our lane when we are comfortable in our jobs. Take for example, actors - many want to direct. Even in fast food, many want to manage. It is human nature. For ESPN though, they are only pleasing their coworkers, nobody else. The public does not like it.
* Sports is all over the place now with TV deals with many teams, but it is not as popular, judging from the ratings. Even before pandemic, stadiums were not full all the time.
* The Olympics will be a real test to see the appetite of how America feels about mixing sports with politics. A gut feeling is this time around will not be good for TV.
* Politicians constantly complain on Twitter. What good does that do? Furthermore, they spend way too much time on cable news shows.
* Covering Congress is useless. Media cover a bill as if it will pass RIGHT NOW. They complain, dissect and attempt to get behind a version they like.
* More than 90 percent of a cable's news 24 cycle is worthless, unless you like listening to people squabble just because it is their job to do so.
* Too many people start speaking with, "You have got to understand..." That implies we did not understand. It starts the conversation off on the wrong foot.
