NBC Olympic coverage tanking...why?
* Perhaps there is too much coverage...too many NBC stations are airing it and watering down the games. Put in on one or two networks and make it EVENT TV.
* If you ever competed at a high level you understand why Simone Biles dropped out for mental reasons. But, it is odd timing...
* In order to get the numbers we see, they are adding up coverage. That is not the way to go. And stop with the minutes streamed number. That is nonsense.
* NBC airs the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in prime time on a Friday live. It drew a dismal 16.7 million viewers. They aired it Friday morning... Did they think we would not know it was not live that night?
* I always hear the reason for low ratings is streaming and all the other content choices. Really? Too much content is why people are not tuning in to a special event like a live award show and sporting events? They are suggesting people rather stream something they can watch any time and any day of the week, so they skip a live event - a moment of history, perhaps? Not buying that.
* The excuses for the bad Olympic ratings will be the usual reasons and they will be wrong.
* The experts are going with the same playbook on reasons why things are happening today. Yet, so many other reasons have crept up. They just do not want to see those other reasons.
* The main one is politics and people being tired of it creeping into every aspect of life.
* And they kept it Tokyo 2020 since the marketing would have been a nightmare to change.
* No fans has something to do with it, too. It is like watching practice.

* What the heck happening to the BO for certain films in the second weekend. A new trend, which is a bad trend, perhaps? Ignore what the experts are saying. "Space Jam" dropped almost 70 percent in its second weekend. The weekend before, "Black Widow" too a deep dive at -68 percent. Not good. Space Jam" is a bad movie and looks it, so those who wanted to see it, did so the first weekend. "Black Widow" and its drop is not as easy to explain. However, the fact that Disney+ had it as well, could be the real reason.
* The Biden CNN Townhall could not rate at all. That is quite sad considering he is the president. To say otherwise is not being honest. It is OK to say a show featuring the current president was not viewed by many people.
* Somehow Savanna Guthrie thought she would show she is an athlete by posting a workout routine from her Tokyo hotel room. Hah? Sure, you are right up there with those Olympic athletes.
* The whole approach to the morning shows has got to change. The morning show format has always been cheesy, so I rarely have tuned in over the years. They are pretty lame.
* Hollywood has even, somehow, ruined the easiest form in entertainment - the game show. How did they do that?
Wind and Weather
* But, those morning shows, on all networks, are a club I would not want to be in - or on.
---
* I live an hour from Cleveland now. The new name for the Indians will be huge news all around.
Note: there is a bridge in Cleveland named the Hope Memorial Bridge. It has the Guardians of Traffic...
